GOOD NEWS! Failure to draft WHO Pandemic Treaty
After the Covid-19 pandemic, the World Health Organization was asked to write a “pandemic treaty”, outlining the best ways to handle future pandemics. This agreement would include things like testing, vaccines, and mandates.
The “Pandemic Treaty” has been in negotiations for the last two years and was scheduled to be finalized this week and formally adopted next week at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland (May 27-June 1).
On Friday, Roland Driece, co-chair of WHO’s negotiating board for the agreement, acknowledged that countries were unable to come up with a draft. WHO had hoped a final draft treaty could be agreed on at its yearly meeting of health ministers starting Monday in Geneva.
The “Pandemic Treaty” has caused great concerns among citizens, organizations and elected leaders alike, for very good reason.
24 Republican governors issued a letter to Joe Biden this week in opposition to him signing the WHO Pandemic Treaty.
These proposed accords aim to significantly alter the amendments to the WHO’s existing International Health Regulations (IHRs) and introduce a new "Pandemic Agreement" (Treaty) that would undermine national sovereignty, infringe upon states’ rights, and jeopardize constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.
The objective of these instruments is to empower the WHO, particularly its uncontrollable Director-General, with the authority to restrict the rights of U.S. citizens, including freedoms such as speech, privacy, travel, choice of medical care, and informed consent, thus violating our Constitution’s core principles.
The failure of the WHO’s “Pandemic Treaty” is a huge win.
HOWEVER…the WHO and other global leaders who want this agreement in place will continue to press forward which means we must stay on guard and stay civically engaged.
UPDATE: Although not finalized, the members expressed their commitment to a Pandemic Treaty. https://www.who.int/news/item/28-05-2024-who-member-states-agree-way-forward-to-conclude-pandemic-agreement
“Member States reiterated that the world needs a pandemic agreement built on the principles of equity, sovereignty, and prevention, preparedness and response, and to ensure future generations are safeguarded from the threat of inevitable future pandemics.”
