Free speech is on the ballot in WA
Let’s face it, the choices we see on our ballot often fall short of our ideal preferences. This election, in particular, we have a choice from top to bottom of our ballots to vote against candidates who want to destroy everything about America and take away the freedom and liberty that makes our nation a place where people from all walks of life can thrive if they so choose.
One of the most dangerous bills we tracked in WA the last couple of sessions was HB 1333 aka “Domestic Terrorism Commission” which would have operated under the scope of the current Attorney General, Bob Ferguson, now on the ballot to be the next Governor of the state.
We feel confident in saying HB 1333 will return in 2025 (under a different number, of course) if Bob Ferguson is elected governor.
In 2022 the legislature passed a measure to fund a study by the Attorney General’s office of “Domestic Violence Extremism.”
In his report AG Ferguson wrote:
“Domestic violent extremism encompasses various forms of extremist and political violence like threats, coercion, and intimidation, online disinformation, extremist recruitment and government infiltration efforts, and the general spread of extreme white supremacism and anti-government ideologies.”
Essentially this Commission would be tasked with finding and penalizing the political enemies of the party in power.
Currently, the WA Secretary of State’s office is using a UK company called LogicallyAI to spy on Washington state citizens (and citizens of other states who speak about WA election issues). TJ Martinell from The Center Square reports:
“Last year, the SOS signed a contract with U.K.-based AI company Logically to search online content on various social media platforms, including X (formerly known as Twitter), for "harmful narratives" regarding Washington’s elections or voting. The company was also tasked with generating reports to be sent to SOS for review highlighting “Emerging Narratives” related to Washington’s elections or voting.”
This type of surveillance (funded by taxpayers) would be widely expanded by the passing of a Domestic Violent Extremism Commission under a “Governor Ferguson.”
This is unconstitutional and should by gravely concerning for Washington voters. Concerning enough that you would vote against Bob Ferguson for governor. Bob Ferguson has not earned a place of power over the citizens of Washington state. We implore every voter to take action by voting for Dave Reichert to keep a dangerous man like Bob Ferguson from becoming the next governor.
