Across the country, many states are passing policies called “freedom to read.” This is in response to what the left calls “book bans.” No books have been banned, but as with many things, parents, educators, politicians and others have called for the removal of books that contain inappropriate content for children. Illinois was the first state to pass a “no book ban” bill last year, followed by Washington last month. There are several states currently working to pass similar legislation, including: Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, Delaware, Vermont and more.
Since this is National Library Week, we wanted to educate you about this new law passed in Washington state this year, HB 2331, which prohibits schools from removing books with inappropriate content if it relates to or includes the study of the role & contributions of any individual or group who is part of a “protected class.”

The American Library Association published a list of 2023’s “most banned books” as part of the library week celebration. We encourage citizens to look into these books and see for yourself just what adults are pushing onto other people’s children. We must stand up to protect our children.
What can you do?
Speak up! One courageous mother spoke out recently at a King County Library board meeting regarding a “queer story time for kids” being led by queer activist Lindz Amer.
“My concern is that we are pushing ideologies on children that are confusing and inappropriate. It is vital that we use common sense in whom we allow to teach and influence the innocent and vulnerable in our communities - our children. Children exposed and pressured into into queer theory can develop behavior issues, it primes them to being medically transitioned, they are more likely to present themselves to being sexually abused, and all these things contribute to depression, drug/alchohol addiction, poverty and suicide. PLEASE STOP subjecting kids to this woman's dangerous ideologies.
This is a foolish use of our tax dollars and potentially dangerous as well as fundamentally and morally wrong.”
