School boards take action to protect girls' sports
You can take action to protect girls in your local school district
In April the Biden administration announced changes to Title IX that would include protection for and prohibit the discrimination of the LGBTQ community in girls’ sports and private spaces like locker rooms and bathrooms. With the changes to Title IX that take effect on August 1, biological males would be allowed to compete on girls’ sports teams and enter girls’ private spaces.
As we noted in a previous post, many states are pushing back with lawsuits, and they’re already seeing victories in court!
In addition to these lawsuits and perhaps even more powerful are the school board directors who are using their constitutional authority as elected officials to pass resolutions that define sex and protect girls’ sports and private spaces.
The first school district in the country to pass such resolution was Sarasota County School District in Florida on May 7th. The school board voted 4-1 in favor of the resolution with the dissenting vote from Tom Edwards, a fierce defender of queer activists.
A few other districts in Florida and in other parts of the country have already passed very similar resolutions.
Next week in Washington state, the Kennewick School Board will vote on passing a similar, but more simplified version of Sarasota’s resolution.
These resolutions are a very effective way for locally elected officials to use their constitutional authority to protect girls. This procedure is also a powerful tool as it compels every school board director to officially record their vote on the position.
TAKE ACTION!
Reach out to your local school board (you do not need to have students in the district, you are invested as a taxpayer) and ask them to consider passing a resolution similar to the two examples above. If you know a specific director on your school board that you believe would be most willing to support and propose this resolution, contact them directly, not the entire school board. We would be happy to connect any school board members wanting to learn more about this resolution to people who can assist further. Please email julie@conservativeladiesofwa.com

Yesterday Julie Barrett joined KVI’s Ari Hoffman to discuss the new Teen Health Hub in Washington and what parents need to know about this dangerous tool in light of laws passed in recent years.
