Week 8 of the Washington state Legislative Session is upon us - we are so close! Public hearings have, for the most part, drawn to a close. This week will primarily be executive sessions (where bills get voted out of committee), floor activity (voting) and a few public hearings. We will, of course, bring you time-sensitive calls to action over the next couple weeks as we try to stop some really bad bills.
But today!!!…
Let’s shift our attention to something positive! You’re probably familiar with the 6 Let’s Go Washington Citizen initiatives. Per the Washington state constitution, these are supposed to receive priority in the legislative session. But this is Washington we’re talking about and democrats do whatever they want. They are finally giving hearings to 3 of the 6 initiatives (the other 3 will go directly to your November ballot). We need YOU to sign in PRO on each of these 3 public hearings. Let’s show these democrats strong citizen support for these initiatives and get them passed!
*You will want to sign in PRO for all 3 of these. Our buttons are red, we can’t change it…but PRO is your position.
I 2081: This initiative would give parents and legal guardians of public school children under 18 years old certain rights. Parents would have the right to examine textbooks, curriculum, and any supplemental materials used in their children's classrooms. They would also have the right to inspect their child's public school records and receive a copy within 10 business days of submitting a written request. These records include academic records such as test scores, medical and mental health counseling records, vocational counseling, discipline, attendance, other student-specific files, and any other records or materials maintained by the school

Such pursuits would be allowed when the officer has a reasonable suspicion a person has violated the law, pursuit is necessary to identify or apprehend the person, the person poses a threat to the safety of others, those safety risks are greater than those of the pursuit, and a supervisor authorizes the pursuit.
