WA's LGBTQ Commission is setting curriculum standards for your students
Take action to protect Washington children!
Yesterday the House Education Committee had a public hearing on SB 5462. In a strategy we see often in Olympia, the chair of the committee held this bill until the very end of the meeting, only allowing for 4 one-minute testimonies to be heard before closing the public hearing. There were more than 40 people signed up to testify on this bill.
We’ve been telling you about SB 5462 since last session. It was also on our “Top 5 Bad Bills” heading into the 2024 session. More than 60,000 students have been unenrolled from Washington’s “indoctrination centers” (aka public schools) since Covid and if this bill passes, there will surely be thousands more!
SB 5462 requires the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OPSI), in consultation with the LGBTQ Commission, to review and update relevant state learning standards at all grade levels to include the histories, contributions, and perspectives of LGBTQ people.
Who is on this “LGBTQ Commission?” You should take a look at the individuals creating policy for your children…if this isn’t an ad for homeschool, I don’t know what is: LGBTQ Commission Members
Tobi Hill-Meyer, the porn maker, is one of the commissioners.
“Subject to funding requirements, each ESD (educational service district) must also establish a regional youth advisory council for inclusive curricula and equity (inclusive advisory council). The inclusive advisory councils must consist of students with diverse backgrounds, including backgrounds that include diversity as it relates to sex, race, religion, national origin, connection with the military, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability, socioeconomic status, and involvement in the community.”
May I remind you of the OSPI report card. A majority of Washington students are not meeting standards for English, Math and Science. Washington legislators are prioritizing indoctrination over education and the students are suffering as a result - academically, emotionally, mentally - in every way!
TAKE ACTION!
The House Education Committee will hold its executive session on Tuesday, February 20th. Please send the committee and email asking them NOT to pass SB 5462 out of committee.
Sample email message:
"Please do not pass SB 5462 out of committee. This policy will take away the constitutionally allowed control from locally elected school board directors, forcing them to adopt this curricula and the added expensive of an "inclusive curriculum coordinator" position. Over 60,000 Washington students have unenrolled from public schools since the Covid pandemic in 2020, yet we as taxpayers continue to pay more each year for public education. Policies such as SB 5462 are among the reasons why parents do not want their children in public education. Please put the focus on academics and stop indoctrinating the students of Washington state. Kill SB 5462"
