I am a TRUMPSTER. However, I agree with you …this is more enabling on the backs of future non taxpayers…more debt, more entitlement…less effective society…down the chute we go!

You nailed it! And we support Trump too! But it's important for us to call out policy that's not conservative.

I agree with you.

There's so much that could be done instead. For example, start indexing capital gains for inflation. It's outrageous that those who hold stocks or mutual funds long term to keep independent then have to pay taxes on the inflation effects of any gains whenever they cash out.

Regarding the savings for babies, it would make more sense to come up with ways to keep Social Security going, such as raising the age when it can be accessed.

And the fact that the Medicaid expansion enabled by Obamacare results in lazy people getting more funding than the poor that the program was meant to help is sickening.

My parents were too poor to have invested $1000.00 at any of their children's or grandchildren's births. I like the idea myself. by the time a kid is 18, what would be the projected amount this account might generate? That figure would best define whether or not this idea should be "a go" or not. I believe it is akin to Hungary's rewarding baby-making by gifting a van for, I believe baby # 3 and other rewards for increasing their population.

I disagree. I have family who are wise with finances whose kids don’t live on government, have successful jobs and own homes. Others are not wise, live paycheck to paycheck and pass this mentality to the next generation. If some of my nieces and nephews had this $1k invested for past 25 years they might be inspired to work hard and save. I have no idea how much the $1k would be after 25 years but having a nest egg, for most people would be encouraging. Instead these young adults are content to work PT, go to school forever and live off government. I’d rather kids received $1k that can help them achieve goals/dreams rather than be content with perpetual government dependence.

I agree with you; we don't need another government push to prepare for something we should be prepping for our families ourselves. Actually, I was unaware of the announcement of Trump Accounts. Thank you for informing me.
