Washington citizens and constitutionally elected sheriffs are gearing up for a battle ahead in the 2025 legislative session to protect the rights of voters to decide if their sheriff is fit for duty or not. But as per usual, Washington democrats believe they know better than the voters so they're ready to give the state the ability to de-certify your constitutionally elected sheriff.

The proposed legislation would grant the Criminal Justice Training Commission the power to de-certify an elected sheriff or police chief, overriding the voters’ choice and weakening local governance.

Citizens must stand up.

We anticipate the same or similar version to 2024's HB 2027 to be filed for the 2025 legislative session. We will notify you as soon as we see it and keep you updated as to how you can take action at every step of the process.
